At the meeting, Moreover, the committee also took several decisions including to monitor of the preaching during Juma prayers and other religious congregations in the country. (2)
On that meeting has attended by senior ministers and top security officials. We are monitoring whether any provocative lectures are delivered, Amu told reporters.
The government also appealed to the Imams in the country to deliver lectures in line with real Islamic ideology of denouncing terrorism and extremism, the minister said.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan had yesterday said that Bangladesh’s intelligence agencies were investigating the Islamic preacher Naik. (3)
“He is on our security scanner... Our intelligence agencies are investigating his activities as his lectures appeared provocative,” Khan had said.
Naik’s speeches are believed to have inspired some of the Bangladeshi militants, who killed 22 people, mostly foreigners, at an upscale restaurant in Dhaka on July 1.
See below 3 point:
(1) Why Bangladesh bans Peace TV channel? General people want to know to this, Is only the reason of terrorist attack. That is clear, no. Because, There have global political issue, they want to try to stop this Channel. This is a major reason to bans it. If we see all of the Lecture of Zakir Naik’s there are no “provocative” speeches inspired some one.
Poor record on free speech
Example: Zakir’s Naik’s most controversial speech revolves around his defence of Osama bin Laden. “If he [Laden] is terrorising America the terrorist [then] I’m with him,” argues Naik. “Every Muslim should be a terrorist." This was the speech shared by Rohan Imitiaz, one of the Dhaka militants. However, Naik has, on several occasions, denounced the militant Islamic State group, to which the Dhaka terrorists swore allegiance. He has also denied that he ever made the pro-Laden statement, claiming the video in circulation is a doctored one. This seems to be unlikely, given that he’s defended Laden many times.
(2) We live here hundred or thousand year, there have lot of religious congregations in the country. But now this situation minister said, they observed all congregational area, that very execs on our religion.
(3) No doubt, Naik is one of the most power scholar in the world. He research many religion, but it so much pathetic that without any Islamic scholar Bangladesh were investigating the Islamic preacher Naik. That is really funny.
